This week was a dousie!

This week has been a dousie.  We have been having some great miracles and some downfalls, its been kinda a roller coaster.
One of the sweet miracles of the week have been Dana, so Dana was baptized (or as she says babatized haha) last week on Sunday and just yesterday she was confirmed and it was really cool. She started crying after and she always tells us how much she loves our church! It was pretty sweet.  Throughout the whole week she was stoked to get the Holy Ghost and she as well keeps saying, "Babatise my husband, babatise my husband!!" haha and we are like Dana we are working on it.  Her husband wants to come to church next week though so that's pretty promising!
We've had some craziness go on though, we had someone we were teaching get drunk and punch a cop, so she is now in jail and we are waiting to see what happens with all her court stuff! We were supposed to have another baptism with Rebecca and that fell through. She is going through a lot with her family. Sister Rollins, as wel,l is in the hospital so keep her in your prayers.  Just a lot of negative stuff has happened this week.  We are looking toward the positive and are excited to tackle a new week up ahead.
Another cool experience I had this week was I was able to go on an exchange with Elder Schwartz; he is a brand-new missionary so it was good to see his "Greenie Fire."
We were walking down the road and there was this lady outside her house so we decided to go talk to her despite the long driveway they had making the walk more awkward (we are missionaries who cares haha). Anyways, we talked to her a bit and just tried to love her not push anything on her.  She then opened up to us and asked about who we were and what we did and obviously we told her and she said that she just had a couple experiences that solidified her faith in Christ but was slowly looking to get into it all, not just jump in on it.  We were able to testify and tell her that that is the reason we were there and she said we could come back!!! Pretty sweet!!
Well those are some highlights of the week.  We were unable to teach tons this week but we are looking to find some more families to work with

Baptism in Guthrie!

From left, Elder Morris, Dakoda Rollins, Dana Haggler, Elder Balch.
So this past week was really cool and really stressful at the same time!!!  Craziness. We have been prepping for 2 upcoming baptisms, 1 happened yesterday. ... Dana got baptized yesterday and we are seeing some sweet miracles happening here in the good city of Guthrie!!!

For this week though we had both of the interviews on Friday and those obviously went really well! haha so from planning the interviews to planning the baptisms to teaching everything they need to know to working with the ward to finding fellowship all of that was fairly stressful but that's the way the Lord works, as long as we do our best the Lord provides!!!
Dana's whole family came for the baptism Sept. 28 and that was really good! Dakoda baptized her. And we didn't fill up the font enough, so during the middle of the baptism we had to fill it up more. A very tiring week to say the least but a good one nonetheless! The ward was pretty pumped about the baptism!! The relief society room was packed to the fullest yesterday. I gave a talk about baptism before the baptism and I told Dana to look at all the people who came to support her in her decision, She was very happy that so many people came!
Overall the week was a good one, Keep sister Rollins in your prayers she went in this week to do chemo and found out there was some fluid around her heart so they had to do surgery, she is doing really well but more prayers cant hurt right?

That was pretty much the week, we are going to be focusing on finding some new people obviously because of the baptisms so we are excited to do that!!
LOVE YA'LL <3 haha

This week was pretty sweet!!

LDS Temple in Oklahoma City, Okla.
So this week was pretty sweet!! We had some good lessons and awesome experiences!!!

Throughout the week things have kinda been up and down with Rebecca and we were praying and wondering what we could do to help! She texted us on Friday morning and said she was sad so we told her to come to district meeting and just hang out with us at our meeting for a while!

We had an awesome meeting and it turns out that everything that we said in district meeting was totally related to her and she got some answers that she needed!! It was really cool to feel the spirit of the district meeting in the room with everyone.  She was also able to help out all of us be better missionaries!! She had some great insights that missionaries don't normally clue in on.

We have been working with Dana a lot this week too and she is doing awesome!! Slow and steady progression is happening but its defiantly there! We are wrapping up her lessons and hopefully she will be able to look towards this weekend to be baptized!!

Overall, things have been going really well. we had some awesome meetings this week with stake conference and the mission conference.  Stake conference was all about the temple.  Its hard to focus up on those talks because we only get to go to the temple every so often but still we can learn tons from them.

I liked one of the speakers because he talked to the investigators at the meeting and said that they should look passed their baptism and look towards the temple. Thats the real goal and thats something I want to focus on in my missionary work, to look towards the temple.
Well, thats pretty much our week! it was some good fun!! Lots of meetings.

Lots of good answers this week!

HEY YALL!!

This week was a pretty crazy week. We had a lot going on and we were able to teach some good lessons and talk to some pretty sweet people!

We had some pretty good lessons with Rebbeca and she was going to get baptized this week!! Well some things came up and we are postponing it for a later date but we know she will be baptized she is just going through a lot! We are looking to have some pretty important lessons with her this week and we are excited for those.

We had a super fun lesson with one of our investigators named Dana I don't know if I had mentioned her before. I probably have but she is way awesome, she calls us her little buddies and tells us how much she loves us each time we are with her and how much she loves the church!!

Anyways we were talking to her about her smoking and she told us that the reason she smokes is because everyone else who is cool does it and she wants to fit in.  We then said "well Dana if everyone jumped off of a bridge would you do it to?" and she replied"... Well I would if I was addicted to it!!" And we all busted up laughing! haha it was awesome

The Highlight of the week was the mission tour that happened yesterday, we had Elder Foster from the 70 come and address us the talks that we had were so good!! President Walkenhorst talked about our desires and how obedience is a desire of the heart.  Putting off the natural man was a topic he touched on as well.

Then Sister Walkenhorst gave a good training about seeing ourselves as God sees us.  How great we are in the eyes of God.

She told a funny story about her being in an elevator she said that there were tons of people in this elevator and she was about to be the last one on but she decided to not get on then everyone said no we have room come on in so they all squished and for a while the elevator didnt move and then a voice came from a speaker saying too much weight on the elevator, the doors open and everyone was laughing and sister walkenhorst was the only one to get off and then the elevator was able to go up...

She phrased it like this, "We all have bad days, most of us don't have elevators calling us fat!" haha it was super funny but it helped us see that yeah we all have bad days... Doesnt mean that the Lord isnt proud of us.

Sister Foster talked about getting in the game. Focusing on our missions and to have no regrets!! Elder foster then gave 2 great trainings, one was about working with the members on a stake and ward level and it was really good.  He talked about the stake president being the president of the church in that area and it put it into perspective how revelation works and how we are invited guests into the church of this area. He talked about the Law of the Harvest and how we can better our relationships with members and investigators.

Then he gave a great training on how God truly knows who we are but more importantly he knows our name and how he answers our prayers and from that I had tons of questions answered!! It was great!! Lots of good answers!!

Well that was the week!

Love yall!!

Another amazing week!

Hello,

This week was a roller coaster! We had some good things, some bad things, and some funny things happen but transfers are next week and we don't know what is going to happen we will know Sunday night but hopefully we will stay! One of the elders in our ward is training a new missionary so their companionship will split up but we don't know about me and Elder Balch yet.

We had a pretty good lesson with the Haggler family yesterday! We usually meet with them a couple times a week and they are awesome! We watched the Restoration video with them because they had some questions about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and they loved it and thought it was great, we were also able to help them set a date to be baptized!!! That was pretty sweet cause their son Trey has come a long way.  At first he was kinda shaky but ever since we have been coming by his heart has been softening.

We had ward conference yesterday and that was pretty good stake President Bowman gave a really good talk about trusting in God and talked a lot about the Holy Ghost! Good Sunday to be at!!

Here's a pic of me in Guthrie, Okla., where I am currently serving my mission.
We also had a couple good lessons with Rebecca! She is doing good and told us to tell ya'll, Hi.  In our lesson she did however tell us that she was only getting baptized because she likes us... That was hard to take because things have been going so well but we are glad that she let us know because now we know her concerns about the gospel and we can talk more about them!

I have been on a high with reading new talks by general authorities.  There was one really good one that I was able to read that talked a lot about the issues I was facing as a missionary for a little while and gave me some good insights.  It's called "Becoming Perfect in Christ" by Gerrit W. Gong. What I liked  about it was that it lets us know how to be diligent... Diligence is using our time effectively! I will leave yall with that and you can read the rest later.

Anyways it was a good week we are all just waiting in anticipation

for transfer doctrine to see where everyone goes!!

Loving it to the max!!!

Hola, amigos,

No, I am not becoming a Spanish-speaking missionary if that is what you were thinking!! This week was a quick week; I cant even believe that its Monday again. We had an awesome week, we had tons of lessons and some really cool experiences.

So (investigator) Rebecca is super cool, I don't know if everyone knows the story, but the 1st day Elder Balch and I were companions we were tracting and came across this old Victorian home so we knock on the door and out comes Rebecca and she says, "Hey, Elders." We got to talking and she believed the Book of Mormon was true, but she just didn't ever get baptized.
Elder Balch, left, and me being goofy at Rebecca's house.

Well, we knew that we needed to come back and now a couple months later she is getting baptized. We set a baptismal date with her for the 6th of September, that is the Saturday right after transfers so we are hoping that none of us get transferred!!! We had an awesome church tour with her and some awesome lessons this week and she is super stoked!!!
Another miracle that we had was that 7 of our investigators came to church yesterday!! That was such a miracle to see and it was stressful and hard to make sure everyone enjoyed it and went to the appropriate classes!!!
Sorry this week is a shorter email.Things have been crazy awesome here and we are loving it to the max!!! That means we are also very tired, haha!

LOVE YOU ALL!

WE ARE THE WATER BUFFALO!!!!!

This week was pretty swell, it has been fun and exciting this week we have been able to teach more lessons in Guthrie than have been taught in a while!! We are excited to continue to see the area grow and the miracles continue to happen.
From left, here's me, Guthrie Ward member Dakoda Rollins
and my former companion, Elder Wilcox. Dakoda had just
gotten the Aaron Priesthood on this day, June 29, 2014.

A couple stories from this week:

We had dinner with a part-member family this week and the non-member husband was really cool and didn't know too much about Mormons. Well, we had a great and funny dinner conversation with him and gained a great relationship with him and are hopefully going golfing with him sometime soon! During one conversation with him he mentioned something funny! He was talking about members of the church and was saying "Ya'll are like water buffalo."

We looked at each other with confusion and then he went on to explain that he had seen a video about water buffaloes in the wild and that when one of them got attacked the others herded around the one to protect it! Haha it was pretty funny but we were excited because he has a good taste in his mouth for the members of the church!!!

I was on exchanges with Elder Bender in Stillwater, where oklahoma state university is, on friday and it was sorority week there and we were on guard the whole day making sure the little females stayed away from us, and elder bender has been in the area about 2 weeks so he didn't know the streets because we were driving from dinner and we ended up on sorority row...

There were so many women out there I was about to stab my eyes out.  I just started screaming in the truck and we made it out alive!!

As well when we were in stillwater we drove by a car wreck that happened right before we got there and it was pretty bad. it was on a main road and we saw the body lying there in the middle of the street,  It was really sad and we said a prayer that night for the family but a really cool experience for at least me happened after that, we were on our way to teach a family about the plan of salvation and that made me think of the accident and how that boy isn't really gone he is just in the spirit world and possibly being taught the gospel by some other missIsonaries!! I love the plan of salvation and all the questions it answers for me!! I know it to be true without a doubt!!!

I know that the Savior is watching over us, even if we aren't perfect because he loves us so much and I know that this work is directed by Heavenly Father and its a joy to be able to be a part of such a great work!!! I love you all.

Nooooo, it's a giant thumb... HAHAHA

As far as this week we have had a funny week!

Monday we made a music video to a funny Mormon song and it is hilarious. Dakoda Rollins, a ward member, put it online so everyone can see it. The link is at the bottom of the paragraph.  That was a really fun P-day and then in the evening we had dinner with the Larson family and a FHE afterwards and brother Larson was talking to us about his leg.

Brother Larson, a couple years ago, got in a really big motorcycle accident and unfortunately the damage was so bad that he had to get his leg amputated. Well we were looking at a bunch of the pictures from the surgery and everything with the accident and we got to the end and it was a picture of him with his leg gone (it got cut right below the knee) and had stitches all around it and he was laughing in the picture so we were like why are you laughing? He said he remembers him thinking it looked like a giant penis!

So we all got a good kick out of it and then we see Beckham their 3 year old son next to us shouting, "IT LOOKS LIKE A GIANT PENIS," and it was the funniest thing ever and his mom looks at him and says "no it looks like a giant thumb" and tries to get everyone to laugh so he thinks its funny. Well that didnt work and he said "no mom its a giant penis" haha ah good times

This week was good we did a-lot of service for some really cool people and we were able to teach some good lessons! We have 2 investigators that are super close to being really solid they want everything that the church has to offer its just they dont want to change. I get it I mean its hard to do but we are hopefully getting somewhere. We think we are 'cause things seem to be getting better with them!! I'm too impatient. I need to be OK with progress! We are needing to find a lot because we have lost a couple investigators, but we were able to find some really cool people this week, so things are looking upward for us!!!

We had a really good lesson with Billy, though. We both, afterwards, while we were talking about it felt like that was the best lesson we had with him thus far. He says he wants to make a change but he needs to get to church!!!! That's always the kicker!!! He has an awesome family, though, and they would be good members of the church!!

Something sad that happened was one of our investigators is going to move to Texas and we are bummed about that, but a cool miracle happened. As she was walking around an apartment complex, she told us that she saw 2 missionaries and walked up to them and exchanged numbers with them; that just shows me that God is guiding this work and that He always is helping us and those who want to hear the message!!

So steady progress is being made! I know that the Lord doesn't expect perfection, he just expects progress, and as long as we are doing our best and giving it all to Him He is happy!!!

I'm happy. I love the work and the great blessings I see from it!

LOVE YA'LL.

This week was crazy ... and also awesome!

This week was pretty crazy, but really awesome at the same time!!
Last Monday we went and got pedicures up in Stillwater, it was really funny and actually felt really good! The little Asian lady who was clipping my toe nails said I had a couple in-grown toe nails (as usual) haha and got them right out, It didn't even hurt. Who needs doctors when you got little Asian ladies right? haha
From left, Tyler Merkley, me, Elder Balch, Ashley Merkley and the Asian lady at our pedicure session.

We had a really good experience this week though! We were kinda upset, frustrated, and a bit tired one evening this week, we were complaining and moping about the mission struggles and our issues with certain things and just a lot of poopy stuff was being thrown down, then we were like ok we still have to go out and work so went up to talk to this guy and sure enough he was super interested in hearing about the gospel and asking us questions about the missions and why we were doing what we were doing and it brought me back to remember the real reasons why I decided to serve a mission and why i was still on my mission right now!! It helped me focus on what truly matters!!!

Thursday this week we had a super good opportunity to go to the Oklahoma City Temple with Sister Rollins (endowment) for the 1st time!!! It has been sooo cool to see the changes the Rollins family has made in the past 3 months i have been in Guthrie! They are the best people here and are doing sooo good! I love going to the Temple and I was able to see the newest video finally!! haha its been a while since ive been! We are going again with the mission in august so that will be good to go again!!

Friday we had district meeting again and I gave a training on finding people and how we can find prepared people and what makes someone prepared!! The coolest thing I learned from studying that is that the Lord already knows who will accept His message and who wont! Now obviously we need to give everyone that choice but when we involve the Lord in our efforts to find people to teach we can find those who are truly ready to hear the message of the restoration!
We had a lot of service opportunities this week and were able to teach some people some good lessons! I have felt like our lessons could be better so that's what I have been focusing on this week is giving everything in every lesson we are in!! Laying everything down on the line and being bold!!
Oh and this week was blazing hot, like 105 with the humidity was crazy!!! We had to walk one day cause Elder Balch's tires were flat and I felt like I was going to pass out!!! It was soo bad and we were lucky to knock on a door that gave us water! she was super nice!!! haha

Love Ya'll,
Elder Morris
